For Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November

Dry Alps for the weekend, rain moving into eastern Austria and La Palma

Friday is dry at almost every park we track. Most of Switzerland, Italy and France stay that way through Sunday, on hero dirt. Rain comes in from the east, reaching eastern Austria and Slovenia on Saturday and staying through Sunday, when La Palma also gets soaked. Sunday turns colder and windier everywhere.

Switzerland and Ticino stay dry

Central and western Switzerland, Graubünden and Ticino see no more than a trace of rain all weekend. Poschiavo, Monte Bar and Bellwald are already dry, just past hero dirt. For the best grip, Zermatt, Lenzerheide and Aletsch Arena sit at the top of the hero band.

Sunday is the cold day. Highs stay below zero at Andermatt, Mürren and St Moritz, and gusts reach around 55 to 60 km/h at Höhoren Wildspitz and Biel. Lower down, Zug still holds around 10 °C.

Friday is dry across nearly every park, with only a light shower at Whistler.

Italian Alps dry and mild

The Italian side stays dry through Sunday. Breuil-Cervinia is in the dry band. Val di Sole, Kronplatz and Pila are prime hero dirt, with highs of 13 to 16 °C on Friday and Saturday. Friuli is the warm corner, with Natisone and Gemona at 13 to 17 °C.

Wind is the catch. On Sunday gusts reach around 72 km/h at Paganella and 66 km/h at Falcade. Finale Ligure is dry but gusty all weekend, at around 60 km/h.

French Alps dry, Lac Blanc very windy

The French Alps see no real rain, just a few tenths of a millimetre on Sunday. Les 2 Alpes is already dry. Tignes/Val d'Isère, Chamonix and Les Orres are in hero shape, and Les Orres drains faster than almost any park we track.

The exception is Lac Blanc, with gusts of around 82 km/h on Friday and 92 km/h on Saturday. Sunday highs across the region drop to 3 to 8 °C.

Rain moves into Austria and Slovenia

Friday is dry. Saturday brings around 2.5 mm to Schladming, about 2 mm to Kitzbühel and about 1 mm to Saalbach, Leogang and Petzen. Sunday is wetter, with around 3.4 mm at Schladming and 2 mm or more at Kitzbühel and Leogang. Maribor Pohorje gets around 5 mm on Sunday, at a 92% chance.

Maribor and Schladming dry faster than most of our parks, so they should recover quickly. Leogang holds water and will stay soft longer. Kitzbühel and Obertauern are already variable. In Tyrol, Innsbruck takes around 4 mm on Sunday and dries slowly, so expect soft trails there.

Sunday is mostly dry in the Alps, with rain in eastern Austria, Innsbruck and Maribor and heavy rain on La Palma.

La Palma gets soaked on Sunday

Friday and Saturday are warm, 22 to 26 °C, and close to dry. Sunday brings heavy rain: around 32 mm at La Palma South and 18 mm at El Paso. La Palma West stays nearly dry but sees gusts of around 98 km/h. These parks drain faster than any we track, so they recover quickly, but Sunday is one to skip.

Germany and Whistler stay quiet

Willingen, Winterberg and Geißkopf are dry all weekend at 6 to 9 °C, though Geißkopf gusts around 53 km/h on Saturday. Whistler has a light shower on Friday, around 1.6 mm, then two dry, cold days with frosty nights.

Our call

For dry, grippy trails on all three days, head to Ticino, Graubünden or the Valais. If you want eastern Austria or La Palma, go on Friday, before the rain.
