For Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October

Rain clears the southeast today, then moves onto the northern Alps tomorrow

Monday is dry across almost all of our parks, with the only real rain falling in Slovenia, Carinthia and the eastern Dolomites. On Tuesday that clears, and a lighter band moves along the northern side of the Alps, heaviest in the Bernese Oberland and western Tyrol. The south and west, from the French Alps through Valais to Ticino and the Italian lakes and valleys, stay dry both days. Most parks are sitting in hero dirt, and nothing is dusty yet.

The southeast is wet today

The rain is in the southeast this morning. Bikepark Maribor Pohorje gets around 8 mm and already scores wet, as does Gerlitzen PROlitzen with around 7 mm. Trailcenter Ossiacher See takes about 5 mm and sits in variable. In the Dolomites, Falcade - Passo San Pellegrino gets around 4 mm, with just a trace at Cortina and Cinque Torri.

Tuesday is dry in all of these. Maribor drains faster than almost any of our parks and holds little water, so it should recover quickly. Ossiacher See also dries fast. Gerlitzen is average on both counts and will take a little longer.

Monday: dry almost everywhere, with rain limited to Slovenia, Carinthia and the eastern Dolomites.

A wet band along the northern Alps tomorrow

Monday is dry here, so ride today. On Tuesday showers move through central Switzerland, the Bernese Oberland and western Tyrol. Mürren-Schilthorn takes the most, around 11 mm, and it holds water more than nearly any park we track, so expect it to stay soft. Grindelwald-First and Grindelwald-Wengen get around 6 mm each and hold water too, as does Engelberg-Titlis with around 5 mm.

Ischgl - Samnaun gets around 8 mm, Disentis Sedrun around 7 mm and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis around 4 mm. Disentis and Serfaus both dry quickly and should bounce back fast. Altdorf, Meiringen Hasliberg and Stans see 3 to 5 mm.

Amounts are lighter around Zürich and Zug. Zug and Zürich Uetliberg get 1 to 2 mm and both drain well.

The south and west stay dry

This is where to ride both days. Three parks are already in the dry band: Serre Chevalier and Breuil-Cervinia at 76, and Arosio at 75. Zermatt is close behind at 73. Serre Chevalier is among the sunniest and fastest-drying parks we track, though gusts reach around 42 km/h on Tuesday.

Hero dirt with no rain to speak of covers Les 2 Alpes, Tignes/Val d'Isère, Saas-Grund, Saas-Fee, Aletsch Arena, Monte Tamaro, Airolo, Pontedilegno - Tonale, Kronplatz, Pinzolo and Poschiavo. Morzine, Les Gets and Châtel see only a trace on Tuesday.

Finale Ligure is dry and mild at around 19 degrees, but gusts reach around 53 km/h today.

Tuesday: the southeast clears while showers run along the northern Alps, heaviest around Mürren and Ischgl.

Germany stays variable

The German parks are dry today but still only variable, between 37 and 50. Bikepark Geißkopf is the best of them. Winterberg and Willingen both hold water more than most, which helps explain why they have not yet come round. Tuesday stays mostly dry, but gusts climb to around 43 km/h.

La Palma and Whistler hold steady

La Palma is dry and warm at 21 to 27 degrees, and its trails drain better than almost anywhere we track. La Palma South leads at 67. Winds pick up on Tuesday, with gusts to around 55 km/h at La Palma East.

Whistler Mountain is in hero dirt at 71, dry today with a slight chance of a light shower tomorrow.
