For Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 October
Dry in the east today, rain moving into the western Alps on Wednesday
Tuesday is a good day almost everywhere, with hero dirt from central Switzerland to Carinthia and the Dolomites. The wet patches today are in the Tyrol, Graubünden and around Livigno. On Wednesday the rain shifts west and south, into the French Alps, Aosta, Ticino and Finale, while the north and east stay dry.
The east stays dry and settled
Eastern Austria has no rain in the forecast for either day, and all five parks sit in hero dirt. Bikepark Schladming leads at 69. Bikepark Leogang holds water more than most of our parks, but with nothing falling that hardly matters.
Bikepark Maribor Pohorje is dry at 75 and warms to around 24°C tomorrow, with gusts near 40 km/h. In Germany, Willingen, Geißkopf and Winterberg are all hero dirt and dry.
In the Dolomites, Kronplatz and Cortina d'Ampezzo stay dry both days. The odd ones out are Sellaronda and Canazei, still variable at 38 with no rain forecast; both hold water longer than most.
Central Switzerland is prime both days
Little or no rain here. Stans, Pilatus Area, Zug, Thun and Grindelwald-First are all around 70, top-end hero dirt. Zug and Stans drain faster than most.
Altdorf is the driest at 74, but expect gusts of around 56 km/h tomorrow. Flumserberg shows an 80 percent chance of showers today yet no measurable rain.
Showers today in the Tyrol and Graubünden
Brandnertal gets around 4.5 mm today and holds water, so it will stay soft. Ischgl - Samnaun takes around 5 mm. Sölden, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and Innsbruck are already wet at 20. Wednesday is dry.
Scuol Motta Naluns sees the most rain, around 7.5 mm. Davos Klosters and St Moritz are wet. Livigno Bike Park (Mottolino) gets around 2 mm on ground that holds water more than almost any of our parks.
Better bets: Chur, Thusis and Flims LAAX stay in hero dirt, with Chur draining fast. Tomorrow is dry, but gusts reach around 45 km/h at Chur and Lenzerheide.
A wet Wednesday in the west and south
The French Alps are dry today, then turn showery. Châtel and La Clusaz get 1 to 2 mm tomorrow. Serre Chevalier, the region's driest at 78, takes around 7 mm on each day, though it drains faster than nearly all our parks.
In Aosta, Breuil-Cervinia gets around 7 mm tomorrow and La Thuile around 3 mm, with highs near 7°C. Finale Ligure has around 3.5 mm today, then about 20 mm tomorrow, too much even for fast-draining ground.
Ticino and western Switzerland: go today
Monte Bar at 77 and Ascona at 72 are dry today. Tomorrow Ascona gets around 8 mm and Monte Tamaro around 4 mm. Ascona and Monte Bar drain quickly, so they should recover soon after.
Bikepark Verbier is dry at 75 and Bern Gurten hero dirt, both rain free today. Tomorrow brings only light showers, up to around 1.4 mm at Champéry.
Further afield
Whistler Mountain is hero dirt and dry both days, up to around 20°C. La Palma South is dry at 82 with gusts near 40 km/h. La Palma (El Paso) gets around 5 mm tomorrow, but it drains faster than nearly every other park we track.
