For Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October

Rain moves from the French Alps today to Tyrol and the Dolomites tomorrow

Almost every park we track sits in hero dirt this morning, and the next two days mostly keep it that way. Today's showers fall on the western side, in the French Alps and the lower Valais. Tomorrow that side dries out and a wetter band crosses Tyrol and the Dolomites. Central Switzerland, Ticino, Germany, eastern Austria and Slovenia stay dry throughout.

Showers today in the French Alps

The west gets the rain today. Les Orres and Les Gets see around 4 mm, Les 2 Alpes around 2 mm and La Clusaz under 1 mm. Across the border, Champéry takes about 5 mm and Crans-Montana around 3 mm, with La Thuile close to 3 mm.

Tomorrow is dry across all of them. Les Orres and Les 2 Alpes drain faster than most of our parks and sit on very sunny slopes, so they should bounce back quickly. La Clusaz holds water but also dries fast. For a dry ride today, Serre Chevalier stays rain free, scores 73 and is one of the quickest drying parks we have.

Today's showers sit over the French Alps and the lower Valais while the east stays dry.

A wet band over Tyrol and the Dolomites tomorrow

Today is dry here, so ride it. Tomorrow brings the heaviest rain on the sheet: around 11 mm at Innsbruck, around 7 mm at Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and around 5 mm at Sölden, with temperatures dropping to the low and mid teens.

In the Dolomites, Canazei and the Sellaronda area take around 6 mm, Falcade around 5 mm and Kronplatz around 4 mm. Canazei holds water more than most parks and will stay soft longer; Kronplatz holds very little and should recover faster. Poschiavo in Graubünden also gets around 6 mm, though it drains well.

Central Switzerland and Ticino stay dry

Rain chances look high in places today, up to 90% at Mürren, but amounts stay at or near zero. Höhoren Wildspitz is the region's best at 74, while Zug and Thun are warm at around 22°C and Zug drains faster than most. Flims LAAX leads Graubünden at 73.

In Ticino, Arosio scores 75 and dries quickly, and Monte Tamaro is dry both days. Out west, Bern Gurten and Biel are dry, warm and among our fastest drying parks. Expect gusts around 30 km/h tomorrow at Saas-Grund and Scuol.

Tomorrow the west dries out and rain shifts to Tyrol, the Dolomites and Poschiavo.

Germany, eastern Austria and Slovenia stay settled

Geißkopf, Willingen and Winterberg are dry both days in hero dirt. Saalbach Hinterglemm scores 73 with only a trace of rain tomorrow, and Ossiacher See dries faster than most. Maribor Pohorje is the driest choice in the east at 79, warm and rain free.

Further afield: dusty Finale, dry La Palma

Finale Ligure scores 90, into dusty territory, with gusts around 46 km/h today easing tomorrow. On La Palma, La Palma South sits at 82 and very windy, while La Palma East is in hero dirt. Whistler holds hero dirt at 71 with no rain in sight.
