For Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October
Dry south and east, while rain moves from the western Alps into central Switzerland
The Dolomites, Trentino, Ticino, eastern Austria and Slovenia stay dry today and tomorrow, with most parks in hero dirt. A wet band crosses the French Alps, western Switzerland and the German uplands today, then clears there by Friday. The heaviest rain shifts tomorrow into central and northern Switzerland, where Zug could see over 30 mm.
The south and east stay dry
The Italian Alps east of the Aosta valley see no rain on either day. Bikepark Paganella, Val di Sole, Kronplatz, Canazei, the Sellaronda and Cortina are all in hero dirt, with highs around 18 to 21°C. Paganella holds water more than most parks, but with nothing falling that only keeps it tacky.
Ticino is dry too: Monte Bar is the driest at 76, while Monte Tamaro and Airolo sit in hero dirt. Eastern Austria is rain-free, with Gerlitzen and Ossiacher See in hero dirt and Schladming dry. Maribor Pohorje has zero rain forecast and drains faster than almost all our parks. Finale Ligure is dry at 80, though gusts reach around 40 km/h tomorrow.
Graubünden and Tyrol: dry, a sprinkle Friday
Graubünden is dry today. Chur leads at 84, near the top of the dry band, with up to 24°C; it dries fast, so tomorrow's light shower of under 1 mm changes little. St Moritz and Poschiavo offer hero dirt, with Poschiavo staying dry both days.
In Tyrol and Vorarlberg, Brandnertal is dry at 83 and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in hero dirt today. Tomorrow brings only a couple of millimetres at most.
Wet today in the western Alps, clearing tomorrow
Today is the wet day around Lake Geneva. Biel gets around 16 mm, Morgins 14 mm, Bern Gurten 10 mm and Champéry and Crans-Montana 7 to 9 mm. Biel and Gurten drain fast, so they should recover quickly. Zermatt stays dry today.
In the northern French Alps, Châtel takes around 15 mm, with Lac Blanc 7 mm and Morzine, Les Gets and La Clusaz around 5 mm. Friday is dry there. Morzine and La Clusaz hold water but also dry quickly. Further south, Serre Chevalier stays largely dry and drains better than any of our parks, while Les Orres picks up around 6 mm tomorrow.
Central Switzerland soaks on Friday
Today is mostly dry, apart from Mürren at around 12 mm and Pilatus at 8 mm. Tomorrow the rain arrives in force: Zug around 33 mm, Flumserberg 27 mm, Brunni-Alpthal and Pilatus around 22 mm, Uetliberg and Höhoren Wildspitz 18 mm, Altdorf 15 mm and Stans 11 mm.
Zug and Uetliberg dry faster than most, but totals like these will leave them soft. Ride today. Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund stay essentially dry and in hero dirt.
German uplands turn wet today
Bikepark Willingen gets around 14 mm today and Winterberg around 11 mm, with gusts near 40 km/h at Winterberg. Both dry slower than most of our parks, so expect them to stay soft into Friday despite only light rain then.
Further afield: La Palma and Whistler
La Palma is wet. La Palma East faces around 65 mm today and 33 mm tomorrow. La Palma South gets only around 3 mm and 2 mm and drains better than any park we track, but gusts reach around 54 km/h.
Whistler is in hero dirt at 71, but around 6 mm today and 8 mm tomorrow will push it softer, and it dries slower than most.
